John lent his particular brand of crazy to the dark comedy indie feature film, Stranger Than Paradise, currently in production. It tells the story of two unlikely rebels of a doomsday cult as they try to track down its leader after the Rapture doesn't happen. (He's not one of them - he plays a nutty believer.)

Getting to tour the states and Europe with Yemandja in 2022 was an absolute honor. Co-conceived and starring the Beninese global pop legend Angelique Kidjo,  it tells a story of unity and healing through the troubled history of the West African slave trade in the 1800s. John played the principal role of Mr. DeSalta, a Portuguese slave trader (based upon an actual historical figure, who was the subject of Bruce Chatwin's debut novel, The Viceroy Of Ouidah). Yemandja had its world premiere at MassMOCA, with further performances at The Broad Theater in Santa Monica, CA, Cal Performances in Berkeley, CA, The Kennedy Center in DC, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands as part of the Holland Festival. John has been a fan of Angelique Kidjo since seeing her first US performance in NYC back in 1992.
